Disconnect
The turn of events below are all very true, there are no fictional characters, this is our story:
We had to change service providers since FastTelco were not providing adequate support. My brother tried countless times to get their help but alas, he didn’t get anywhere. The last step was my mom calling and letting them know she was going to kill someone, that didn’t work either. Our contract ended and we decided to go with Quality net.
Quality had an offer that was pretty decent, purchase 2MB for the year and you get 4MB. Unfortunately, we started off with NO internet and just today we got 1MB. Apparently “Quality Net” claims that it has to do with the Ministry of Communication. First, they had to change the Jumper (whatever that is), NOW they tell us we are to far from the central box in Mishref to get the 4MB.
I am glad we have internet back, but I am not happy with where this is going …

FASTtelco has the best support among the other ISPs, wait tell you need Qnet support and only then u’ll run back to FT
September 16th, 2008 at 12:46 am
Oh and good luck getting the balance of your money back

Damn that really does suck! They can only provide 4MB, then I do think you should get a refund!
Fasttelco support sucks the most out of them, Zaijel Kems has better support from everybody I think but their prices are more expensive when you go 2 MB and up..
Well I hope it gets resolved somehow, can they try to bump it up to 1.5 or 2MB they have to test it, talk to somebody technical there and get their name not just somebody at the helpdesk, they are useless

Living far away from the central sucks since your land lines can’t maintain a clean signal :/ It’s not the ISP’s fault really; more like the ministry’s old infrastructure.

Adrenaline: I had dealt with the help desk for Fasttelco, and every god damned time i tell them about a problem, they tell me it’s something wrong with the wiring at home, and that would be their help.. no mention of how to resolve the issue, no mention on what to do from there, NOTHING.. just “you got a problem with your wiring” and that was it..
Marzouq: They tried giving us onl 2Mb, and it kept disconnecting, then went down to 1.5Mb and the same.. till 1Mb and it worked, but even now it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting at random..

the wiring issue could be true, if u have a lose tel wire somewhere in the house it will effect the conection.
Check the wiring starting form the box outside ur home, and u can change the wire coming from the box to the house for kd20.
U can test by conecting the router directly to box outside, if u get the speed u want then it could be the wiring, somtimes a little humidity inside the tel socket in the wall could be the problem

let ur brothers contact me on boursachi@hotmail.com
fast tips nonetheless:
1. connect ur laptop to box il wizaara seeda and try speedtest.net
2. tell qnet to downgrade the service to 2mb
try speedtest
if u get 2mb, then ask to upgrade to 3mb
try speedtest
3. be happy to recieve ~3500kbs on speedtest
~400kb/s torrent dloads + enough for many to surf simultaneously
4. el jumper wire th3ayif
